History

Interview

What kind of experience have you accumulated so far?

It has been 20 years since I started working. During my time at Hon-Hai, I was in charge of OEM production management and other tasks, focusing on raising efficiency to manage orders from customers. After transferring to Sharp, my work changed to thinking about creating value in products, services, and solutions as a brand company. This is very challenging and interesting.

When I first became president of overseas sales subsidiary, there was no one to teach me about management, and I had to think and learn by myself. I arrived at work at 6:00 a.m. to prepare for video conferences with Japan, and on days when there were no meetings, I used that time to study and think about the issues and the reforms needed.

I have had many experiences probably including failures, but in order to survive, you have to overcome all past experiences. I believe that I have become who I am today through those various experiences.

You are holding lunch meetings with younger managers. How do you feel?

It is exciting. I am happy to have this opportunity to talk with young managers who are the core of the company, and I myself am stimulated by them. I would like the lunch meeting attendees to also take this opportunity to think about their missions at Sharp once again. It should help them rediscover what they need to do. Also this should help members connect with other member from different divisions as well. The key is “Horizontal Integration”. I would like everyone to keep this in mind.

What kind of a company do you want Sharp to become, in one word?

In a word, I want to emphasize “創” meaning “create.” This is also mentioned in our Business Creed “Sincerity and Creativity.” Creating something new is important in any business. I want everyone to always think of new things, without being satisfied with where we are right now. I hope that everyone will keep this in mind as the spirit of our brand.
